March Action is heating up!

Homosassa - Saltwater Fishing Report

Fishing has been great down here in Homosassa the past week, I fished the past 7 days straight and we got into some great action every single day. On the nice days we went out and got into the sheepshead, macks, and a few tripletail out in 8-14 feet of water. Then we would come in and pick up some trout and reds off the shallow flats after the sun warmed up the water around the rocky points. Today we had to deal with some 20 plus knot wind so we stayed in shallow. I was surprised at how good the bite was, we caught lots of nice trout at almost every stop I made, along with the hard fighting and very slimy lady fish that seemed to invade every spot after we picked up a few trout… We actually got most of our fish the past two days on shrimp under a cork, we kept having fish miss our lures or just swipe at them so I started anchoring when that happened and throwing out a few corks over the pot holes that we got strikes from. It paid off in big trout. Some times it pays to just slow down and take your time, especially on windy days like today. The fish want to eat, you just have to figure out what they want and how to get it to them. But any way, the weather looks great for this weekend, so get out there and rip some lips! I have had the best success on mirrodines and shrimp under a cork the past few days, and should be about the same this weekend, I don't think this cold front will bring the water temp down enough to really make that much of a difference.
