Homosassa - Saltwater Fishing Report

Today was the first trip in the new 33 World Cat we just got earlier this week. We started out in 50 foot drifting some good looking bottom and hooked into some big Red grouper on spro jigs and some gags on live bait. We left the dock with no spots in the gps to try it like they did it in the old days, only we had a nice bottom machine . It goes to show that the fishing is very good this time of year and all you need to do is run until you see some good bottom in 40-50 feet of water and you can limit on grouper if you use the right tactics. It was a great test for the new boat, we had 2 foot seas on the way out and 4 foot seas on the way in, smooth ride both ways! There are lots of gags moving in right now, I have been catching them as shallow as 4 feet of water consistently on inshore trips on plugs and cut mullet. The Trout bite is really starting to get good inshore, and it will only get better as the water continues to cool down. Only one more month to keep gags so it's time to get out there and get some big gags before the season closes.
