Fishing Report for Homosassa, Florida

Capt. Mike Locklear
February 8, 2007
Homosassa - Saltwater Fishing Report

Big Snook CPR(Caught-Photoed-Released)

Fishing in Homosassa has been very good. This past week I landed a 38-inch 21 pound snook estimated. We got her back in the water very quickly after a couple of quick photos. The battle was very much a hoot and I have Capt. Dan Clymer to thank.

Dan took me to his secret spot and I swore to not disclosing too much information. He said it was ok for me to write about it, though. Dan is one of Homosassa’s finest new guides who grew up on both the Crystal and Homosassa Rivers.

Dan has been and still is very active with our local CCA chapter. Our banquet is upcoming on April 14 and it will be another sold out event I am sure. Dan works for Pro-Line Boats. He tests their boats and props them out and does stability test required by the Coast Guard.

Dan was recently on Bill Miller’s “Hooked On Fishing” on Bright House 47. They really worked over the big gag grouper. For more information you can contact Capt. Dan through our web site at http://www.homosassaguidesassocation.com

My most recent trip was this past week with Alex and his father Richard from the Florida Keys. Their origin is Cuban and we stopped by Museum Café for some real Cubans. They mainly wanted to look at some island property only accessible by boat. Turns out we really needed an airboat to access the property. We could only get close.

March is filling up fast, so get a call into me if you are interested.

Tight lines,

Capt. Mike
