Indian River Lagoon - Saltwater Fishing Report
Indian River Report - Sebastian Area
This past week or so has seen the winds calm a bit, temperatures rise, and water levels remain on the low side. These conditions have resulted in a change in feeding patterns. Early mornings and late evenings have been the times to find trout, reds, and some snook on the flats hitting top-water. After about 9:30 am it is time to switch to deeper water 3-5 ft., mangroves, and docks and start working the jigs. Try green with an orange jig head if the water is murky and root-beer w/gold tail and orange jig if the water is clear. Drop-offs around islands and flats have been producing some fish throughout the day, but numbers have not been high. The Sebastian River is producing snook and tarpon, just look for fish and throw a top-water plug or DOA shrimp. You most likely will not be disappointed. If the calm mornings continue, smaller boats will be able to get out the Inlet and do some searching along the beaches. Large jacks and Spanish macks should provide some great action. I have not been outside yet, but it will not be long. Thanks to those of you who called in support of what I wrote in my last report. It is people like you that will make a positive difference in the future of the great resource we call the Indian River Lagoon! Not much else to report on. Just get out there and fish. Remember, you can’t catch anything if you don’t go fishing and that next cast may be the fish of a lifetime.
Until Next Time,
Tight-Lines to all
Sincerely,
Capt. Ron
