Indian River Lagoon - Saltwater Fishing Report

Capt. Ron Bielefeld's Indian River Lagoon Report - Sebastian Area
The fishing the past week or so has been basically the same as it has been over the last month, fair to good very early and late in that day. Trout and snook have been feeding from first light to about 8 am and again as it has been getting dark. The trout and snook have been feeding in 1-3 feet of water over grass beds. The lack of heavy rain in the Sebastian area has kept the water fairly clear so most of the grass areas have clear to only slightly murky water. This makes being quiet on your approach to these areas all the more important (pole or drift). The trout and snook have been taking top-water plugs during the early mornings and late evenings. Rip-Tide Brand Realistic Shrimp and Weedless shrimp have been taking trout later in the mornings and during the early evening in deeper water around structure like islands. If all else has failed, I have turned to live shrimp to catch a few snapper and trout in deeper water along the Inter-coastal waterway. As usual, when there has been a good breeze very early the action has been better and has lasted longer than when it has been dead calm. Evenings have been tricky because of thunderstorms. We have not gotten much rain, but the storms have been close enough to keep me off the water several times. Until next time, Tight-Lines to all.
Sincerely,
Capt. Ron
