Indian River Lagoon - Saltwater Fishing Report

Capt. Ron Bielefeld's Indian River Report - Sebastian Area
This past week of fishing was much more productive than the previous few. We have been putting slams of trout, reds, and snook in the boat consistently. The pattern has been first light through about 10am and about 5pm through dark. Snook have been most available very early in the morning on very shallow flats and very late into dark. Top-water spooks and poppers have been very effective and a ton of fun. Some large trout and nice reds have been cooperative during this period as well. However, reds have been most active late in the evening and trout have been feeding on deeper flats (2-3 feet) about an hour after high tide until about 3 hours after high tide. The reds and snook have been taking Ripe Tide Brand jerk baits and weedless shrimp. Top-water plugs have not been effective for these fish. Windward areas of mangrove shorelines have been holding trout, reds, and snook. Top-water plugs have worked along the mangroves early and late, but soft plastics have been the most effective overall. Jacks, ladyfish, and a few bluefish have been rounding out of catches. Check out the photo page of the Tight-Line web site for a look at some of the fish we have been catching. The fishing should continue to be good if we do not get any tropical storms. Moreover, cooler temps and the bait run are coming soon. This will increase feeding activity all the more. I will be out of town until the 18th of September, so I will not be reporting next week. I will be back on the water again on 19 Septmber. Until next time, Tight-Lines to all.
Sincerely,
Capt. Ron
