Indian River Lagoon - Saltwater Fishing Report
Capt. Ron Bielefeld's Indian River Lagoon Report-Sebastian Area
The weather was pretty nice all this past week and we caught some really nice fish, trout to 5 lbs, reds to 8 lbs, some jacks and some ladyfish. It was great to get back out on the water again. Hopefully from this point on my schedule will be more like what it used to be and I will be able to get a fishing report in each week.
The trout has been hitting top-water plugs early and shallow-diving plugs later in the day. If you are a diehard top-water angler, some fish have been willing to take top-water all day. We have been sticking with the silver mullet pattern on the spooks and the white 3D fingerling on the diving plugs. The bigger fish were shallow and the smaller fish in about 3-4 feet of water near grass and bait.
The redfish have been in our around schools of larger mullet. Our best luck was pitching Rip-Tide Brand jerk baits right into the mullet and working them through. Of course the mullet could care less, but a few of the reds liked the presentation and thumped them hard. We have been using mostly the new penny color, but some pearl as well. Work these lures slowly for the best hook-up rate.
Until next time, Tight-Lines to all.
Sincerely,
Capt. Ron
