2/22 + 2/23 Action packed half days in FL Keys

Capt. Richard Stanczyk
February 23, 2011
Islamorada - Saltwater Fishing Report

Well I've 3 half day trips the last two days with young children so we've just been bending the rod, but it's been a lot of fun for them! TONS of spanish mackerel on the edge of the gulf along with lots of big blacktip spinners. We even caught a 35 lb blacktip on a 10 lb rod - what a fight! There were also some little kings in there the other day, along with some pompano, snappers, ladyfish, bluefish, the usual suspects! Today we also got into some lane snappers in one of my spots which I haven't seen in any number in years there!!! The pompano have been great this year, hopefully this will continue in the future winters! Fishing a full day tomorrow so hope to have a good TARPON report from the 'glades - the fish have been back there but not feeding very happily yet, though the water has been 70+ now for a few days so tomorrow could be a different story. We'll let you know!
