Islamorada - Saltwater Fishing Report
The last few days off Islamorada the weather has been beautiful! Very light winds under 10 mph from the northwest has made the reef very calm and fishable for smaller skiffs even! We've had great action with a mix of nice spanish and cero mackerel in the dirty water in 10-40 feet. Some big schools of jacks up to 10 lbs are also around and great fun on light tackle. We also caught some nice mangrove snappers on fresh ballyhoo chunks, as well as our share of groupers and mutton snappers, the groupers unfortunately are out of season here now. We also caught a few porgies and yellowtail, and some other guys had some hog snappers, lane snappers. Good action that is just minutes away from the dock in most places if you don't want to stay out for long or not run an hour into the backcountry! I've also heard the gulf is livening back up again with some nice schools of spanish mackerel, ladyfish, bluefish, trout, and snapper. Hopefully some cobias and goliaths on some of the wrecks out there, we'll likely see on my next full day!
