Islamorada - Saltwater Fishing Report
It's hard to believe Thanksgiving is just around the corner. While the temps haven't felt much like fall the wind certainly has been playing it's usual roll. For the novice fly angler a word of advice: learning how to double haul and cast accurately will pay you huge dividends. The great thing is you don't even need water to practice! Grab a Hula Hoop or whatever you have for a target, get out in the backyard and pretend you're casting to tarpon or whatever fish you fantasize about. Practice when it's windy. If you're snowbound there are small, indoor "practice" rods that are great for improving accuracy. Nothing is more heartbreaking than to be completely surrounded by fish tailing hard and not seal the deal due to poor casting. Anyways, enough of my casting rant. The fishing out back the last few weeks has been solid. Lots of bait around. Seeing more snook on shorelines in the inner portions of the bay along with plenty of redfish. Mullet muds have been producing trout, ladyfish and some decent sized jacks for simple rod bending fun. Bonefishing definitely saw some improvement the past month with the cooling water temps.
