Islamorada reef and offshore

Capt. Bruce Andersen
May 10, 2016
Islamorada - Saltwater Fishing Report

Fishing has been on fire down here in Islamorada the last few weeks! Both offshore and reef fishing have been fantastic. Offshore we're catching lots of dolphin or mahi mahi as some people call them. We've had some very nice catches with both quantity and quality including a lot of "slammers" up to 40 pounds on some trips. The dolphin season is just really starting to heat up right now and should be at it's peak from now through June. Swordfishing has also been very good. We've caught some nice swords over the last few weeks and are looking forward to the peak of that fishery over the next 4 months. Reef fishing has been spectacular with red hot yellowtail snapper fishing and a great start to the grouper season witch opened on may 1st. We're catching our limit of yellowtail on most reef trips along with some decent mutton snapper and beautiful black grouper as well.
