Islamorada sea horse off shore report

Islamorada - Saltwater Fishing Report

Islamorada Sea Horse Off Shore Report

Report: Catching fish off shore from Islamorada is still as great as it has ever been for Mahi Mahi. The past few months have been extremely productive around patches of Sargasso weed, Floating isolated pieces of debris, sea turtles, and current edges. Most everyone that has looked for Mahi has been finding and catching them. Sometimes when anglers encounter schools of Mahi they catch one fish and the rest of the school won't eat. A few ways to get them to eat is to use small live Jacks that can be caught on quill rigs near floating debris/weeds. Throwing small pieces of bait in the water sometimes gets them going. Changing the direction of the boat moving the fish in an opposite direction will also cause a few to eat a bait.

Islamorada Fishing Forecast:

Off Shore Forecast: More Mahi and deep drop fishing through the late summer and fall. Fishing can be outstanding when you change up and fish deep during the heat of the summer. Some of the best Swordfish catches have been during the months of September and October. Blackfin Tunas have made many great fishing days possible around the 409 hump first thing in the morning. Trolling inline feather jigs, and dropping jigging spoons, and live pilchards have been three great ways to catch them.

Target Species:

mahi swordfish tuna
