Islamorada vertical jigging and mixed bag

Capt. Bruce Andersen
April 29, 2015
Islamorada - Saltwater Fishing Report

Fishing offshore of Islamorada has been great. Dolphin fishing has been very good the last few days in particular. We're already catching a nice mix of schoolie and gaffer size dolphin with a few slammer mahi as well. The amberjack fishing has been hit or miss this season and we've had some slower jigging trips as well as some exceptional ones. In addition to the amberjacks we're also catching almaco jacks, blackfin tuna, grouper, and some big mutton snapper on both vertical jigs and slow pitch jigs. Yellowtail snapper fishing on the reef has been very good and live bait fishing has produced lots of kingfish, mutton snapper, blackfin tuna, wahoo, and some sailfish as well.
