Islamorada - Saltwater Fishing Report
Over the last couple of weeks, I have only been offshore once and it was disappointing. We found only some small kings. Checking with the other boats; this was not an unusual day. Over this past weekend, a friend of mine found a nice weedline about 12 miles off. He caught some nice Dorado on it.
I have still been doing tarpon trips. Sunday, I took Shawn and Robin Mc Manus from New Jersey. With a well full of live pilchards, we tried for a tarpon. I ran up to Tavernier creek and set up. Three moves later, Shawn had his first Tarpon on. After three or four jumps; the hook pulled. Encouraged by the hookup; I tied on a new hook and chum heavily. Maybe 10 minutes later, as Shawn retrieved his bait a 30 LB tarpon eat it. After a few pictures it was released. I ran into the Everglades park for a little more action. I ran back to Man 'O' War and set up a drift to find some trout. I had caught them good there a couple a days earlier. A short time later; we were into them alone with some ladyfish. We also had a school of Spanish Mackerel come trough. About 2, Robin had caught enough trout and Mackerel. We call it a day.
My 30 footer is in the boatyard, in anticipation of a good winter season.
To have a great day on the water, Book a trip with a FULL time pro-Call 1-800-320-2753.
