Islamorada - Saltwater Fishing Report

Over the past couple weeks the fishing has been good. I have had the Simon lewis and his son Carl and wife Joule in from the UK.The first night we drifted for tarpon. Carl caught two tarpon (his first ever) both about 90 #; his dad caught one over a 100# and a 30# permit. another day we went into the park for some sight fishing. We set up to do some shark fishing. Joule caught her first fish a 60# lemon shark on 12# test line. We got 6 lemons to the boat, and lost another 8. Lewis caught a 20 plus pound barracuda. I also fished Gary Bennett also from the Uk. Gray did well in landing a 100 plus Tarpon. The biggest fish he ever caught.

I also fished Rob Siemens from Miami. We went out for a half day reef trip. The yellowtail bite well and we came in over 20 snappers. Rob and his friend took some fillets to Lazy Days for lunch and were home by 4 in the afternoon still with a couple pounds of fillets for dinner for the rest of the week. I also fished Noel Colon's party for a full day. We tried snapper fishing, but the conditions were bad-no current. We did get one keeper mutton.

I netted some ballyhoo, and headed offshore. We came across a good weed line. And caught one dolphin right away lost another one. Moving down the weed line. We found another school. We kept a dozen. I came back to the reef and found a patch with some nice mango snappers.

Take a kid fishing, book a trip with a FULL time pro. Call 1-800-320-2753
