Upper Florida Keys & Islamorada

Capt. Izzy Donatiello
April 13, 2007
Islamorada - Saltwater Fishing Report

The offshore fishing has been fair with the onset of the east winds. Some dolphin and blackfin tuna on the offshore humps. The reef in 50 to 90 feet of water is producing nice yellowtail snappers and grouper of the bottom.

In the backcountry, the big (11/2# plus) snappers have finally started to eat I have caught some big seatrout casting a lead head jig tipped with a gulp shrimp. The bridge channels are producing tarpon on a regular basis. Live mullet, pinfish and crabs are the baits to use. The fish are ranging from 70# to over a 100#.
