The Changes are on the Way!!!

Jacksonville - Saltwater Fishing Report

We have had some very nice weather this past week and plenty of heat and humidity to go along with it…

The water is still stained from the 28 inches of rain we got over a month ago due to Tropical storm Fay. Yes we are still dealing with the after affects. It takes quite a while to move all that extra water out of the river system in North Florida.

The water has been way to dirty to do any Flounder gigging trips and I have several groups waiting for my call. With the Mullet run starting the big Flounder will be on the move soon. Not only will the gigging be good but the hook and line Flounder fishing will be off the charts.

With the tides starting to get back to normal the Red fishing in the creeks is picking up. They have been staying in the grass because the tides have been so high. When that happens all they do is gorge on marsh crabs. When they do get out they are sometimes a hard bite.

The big bull Reds are starting to show up in the river and at the jetties. The Croakers are also on fire in the river. I had a good bite on the back water Red fish Friday the 12th with Randy Nesmith and his wife from Georgia. They love to catch Reds so that's all we really fished for. We also had a few Flounder mixed in.

The larger Trout are also starting to show up. And like I said look for the big Flounder to really start feeding soon. The phones have started ringing again so I will be doing quite a few charters the next several weeks and should have some great reports.
