Jacksonville - Saltwater Fishing Report

Have been fishing in the rain, running from the rain, or fishing after the rain, lately.

WHICH IS OKAY, WITH ME!

It's funny how no sooner do we get to a certain time of year, and here comes the "water works".

It seemed like just after Hurricane Irene passed N.E. Florida, is when the switch was turned on.

I'm one for chasing summer "outa here", and moving on. This summer was again brutal. So I'm ready for some significant changes.

ADDICTED TO TROUT, is an understatment when it comes to discribing myself. And just now, I'm starting to pick them off, here and there.

I don't even mind if they're the local Yellowmouth Trout (weakfish) Because they have no limit anymore here in N.E, Florida.

In the past it was 4 fish at 12" per person. NOW? Through the worldly wisdom of of the decision makers we can now keep all we want.

I've been taunted, so far. Getting 12-15 inchers, but just can't seem to find the nest of them. We've picked thru them here and there.

BUT....wait till it's cooler. I love putting people on the 2-4 pounders. They are super fun to catch....especially when the specks are also mixed in.

Of course now is when the SPAWNING Redbass frenzy starts. Everyone wants to catch the over sized Reds. It's "bait-n-wait" fishing, but if you want a really big fish. We can do that too.

Here's a 46 pounder caught back in June.
So, October isn't the only time to catch MONSTERS!

Jacksonville Fishing Forecast:

Book your day in advance at least a week. This time of year is when the weather starts to get a bit more wishy-washy (technical term)So planning is essential.

Target Species:

FLOUNDER, Trout, Redbass.

More Fishing Reports:

Inshore fishing the St. Johns River, and estuaries around Jacksonville, Florida provides year round opportunities for Redfish, Speckled Trout, Flounder, Black Drum, and Sheepshead to name just a few. Plus, seasonal favorites such as Shark, Tripletail and Pompano. The legendary Mayport Jetties are mile long piles of huge granite boulders that protect the inlet to the St. Johns River from the Atlantic Ocean. Around these jetties is some of the best and most consistent fishing.
