Plenty of Action...

Capt. James Howard

Jacksonville - Saltwater Fishing Report

Well the heat has been on as far as the temperature and you know this is just the start of a long hot summer…

But the fish like the warmer water and feed a lot more than they do when the water is cold. The Reds will really start feeding almost every chance they get. On several trips last week with some kid's on board we stuck with what we could catch the most of.

It's always best to shoot for quantity instead of quality with young adults as far as I'm concerned to give them a good memory of the trip… And of course some times there are some nice fish in the mix.

The Trout and smaller Red fish provided plenty of action on two trips last week for me and my clients. We caught all the fish both days float fishing live shrimp and there was hardly any slack time in the bite.

When you find a spot that is holding what we call Rat Reds there are usually plenty of them and they will always eat. It's also good to see a good number of the smaller reds because that means our stock is in great shape. The Red fish grow very fast up to 8 inches each year the first few years.

Thanks to everyone for some great mornings on the water last week.
