Just Like it Should Be!!

Jacksonville - Saltwater Fishing Report

We are certainly in the typical Florida weather pattern for this time of year. Warm temperatures light West to Southwest wind flow and a chance of a thunder storm every afternoon.

The fishing the last two days has been good as far as the number of fish but the quality has not been near as abundant.

There are a lot more of the smaller Trout now in the 2 to 3 pound range and a few in the 5 lb range mixed in. Last month it was hard to catch a Trout under 20 inches.

The Redfish are still a great bite and the size is from 5 to 8 pounds in the back waters. They seem to be favoring the larger Mud minnows and a half of a fresh Blue crab. It is always best to get your crabs alive and what I do is put a little ice on them so when you go to break them in half they are not moving quite as quickly and you can avoid getting pinched. That HURTS!!

Still plenty of Jacks and Ladyfish to keep the pole bent. There has also been all the Mangrove Snapper you could want in the river on the docks and rock piles. Not many keepers since they changed the size limit to 12 inches. That's too bad because there are a lot of 10 and 11 inch fish and they are great eating…..

The Flounder continue to improve and the gigging has been pretty good also. I have a few gigging trips coming up so hopefully I'll have some good reports and pictures of the Flounder gigging soon…
