Going out in style

What a way to end the year. Light winds low tides and right before a big cold front….

This might have been the last big bang for the slot size Reds in the creeks. Even though they want go anywhere they will slow down as far as there feeding goes. When the water gets good and cold the larger Red fish don’t need to feed near as often. They will bunch up and hardly move. You can almost go right up to them and poke them with your pole. That’s when you look for a sunny day and a good low tide. The mud flats will heat up and when the water comes back in it will change just enough to fire them up for a short bite.

Working live Shrimp on jigs and under corks on Sunday Dec. the 31st with John Lemen his son Jonathan and friend Tyler it was as good as it gets this time of year and then some….

It started off a little slow. We were catching a lot of small fish and they were spread out. I could tell the kids were starting to lose interest and I told them not to give up quite yet. With an hour left in the trip the Reds broke lose for us.

For that solid hour the corks went down every cast I think. We caught over 20 Reds from 15 inches up to a monster 32 inches. The over sized Red toped out right at 12 pounds. Needless to say the kids had come right back to life. What a great trip and way to end the year. Thanks for a great time guys.
