Jacksonville - Saltwater Fishing Report

Another geart February day!!!!!

With another front expected to roll thru today. The weather and fishing was great yesterday February the 16th. Find the bait this time of year and you will find the fish….. I have recently found a concentration of glass minnows a little south of Jacksonville in the intercoastal waterway. They have gone from very small in the last week to about 3 inches this week. There has been not many Trout but very solid fish with them. Also a lot of Blue fish.

I made the 20 minute run south yesterday morning with my clients Wes his son Mark and grand son Chris…. It was a run that turned out well worth it.

The weather was great in the morning with light wind but a little chilly on the run with the temperatures get to about seventy. We were working about a 16 foot drop in a very narrow section of the intercoastal waterway close to Butler Blvd.

Throwing nothing but plastics on quarter ounce jigs for about 3 hours we caught 4 Reds in the 16 inch range countless Blue fish about 2 pounds and 11 Trout that were all solid fish up to 4 plus pounds and we were fishing in the pods of small glass minnows the whole time.

Even though the water temp is up to 57 degrees we were still getting all of our fish on the bottom working the plastics very SLOW….. And still no need to really set the hook hard. Just let them bend the pole and pull back slightly keeping tension on the fish... They are still not real aggressive but they will eat.
