Offshore Action

Capt. Colin Hickey
April 10, 2008
Jupiter - Saltwater Fishing Report

I wasn't around for most of it, but the cobia bite over the past couple months was the best in recent years. It seems like everyone was finding some action whether it was inshore or off the drop.
This is the time of year when kings start becoming more and more present and before you know it theyll be a nuisance. If targeting smokers pretty soon youll find thick action between 80 and 120ft, find some live greenies or sardines will do and use a treble hook with a trailer, youll definitely find your best hook-up ratio.
You will find some snappers off the reef if you drift fishing.
As far as trolling, dolphin and wahoo are definitely your best bet, keep an eye open on the calendar for the days approaching the full moon, have all your wahoo rigs set up and get an early start in the morning. Good Luck.
Tight Lines,
C. Hickey
