Jupiter Inlet, Hobe Sound & Juno Beach

Capt. Colin Hickey
November 13, 2006
Jupiter - Saltwater Fishing Report

Steady Action

Sunday morning seemed to be a terrible day after losing a sail that was doing everything he could to let us release him. After leaving the inlet the live bait situation seemed to be scarce. We got some blue runners and figured we'd rely on sails hitting them. After a slow 30 minutes when we began doubting the extremely calm conditions we finally had a sail slapping around about 20-30 ft off the transom. After losing him on 2 lines he digested the baits fast and came back for a 3rd one. Pissed about the terrible start we shook it off and bared down for a beautiful cow dorado a little after on live bait. After going to dragging dead baits we found the sails attacking the dragged ballyhoo much more persistent yesterday. The blackfin tuna action was fabulous as it was like the tuna humps out there yesterday in the greater depths, about 9-10 miles out.

The report

Sails are hitting blue runners, goggle eyes(if you can find them) and ballyhoo in greater depths, where you can also find blackfin tuna around them. Although there are some in the 100's the action was better further out. Dorado are real popular as they remained the action the past week. Talked to somebody who else got some wahoo the other day but no sign of myself seeing it.

Tight Lines
