Miami and Key Biscayne – offshore

Capt. Quinton Dieterle
March 19, 2001
Key Biscayne - Saltwater Fishing Report

Hot Bite and Big Tuna

Fishing on the Cutting Edge today we left knowing the day may be shortened because of the weather.Heavy Rain and high winds from the East made things look worst than they were from the dock. As we finished catching bait to the north off Government Cut we took it easy working our way to the edge. Once we reached 100 ft. we noticed right away the current was rippig to the north, the calming of the seas was a dead give away. We popped the kites up and tryed a half mile south of the Sea buoy to have no action for around 30 minutes. We then pulled them in and ran south off the tip of Key Biscayne, the water looked good and the flyers were popping up once and a while. It only took a few minutes to get a Sailfish up in the baits, We missed the first but soon after caught a Double. The action was in 125 ft. and the fish ate live Threadfins.

The catch of the day was not on the Cutting Edge today though.(Sad but True) The Supersition with Capt.Bric Peeples caught a 170 yellow fin fishing off the monument Can. The fish ate a Threadfin and they fought the fish into 17 ft of water before sinking a harpoon into the giant fish. They boated the fish at the Bait Patch. "Not Bad Capt. Peeples"

Well this week should continue to bring exciting storys such as this one and hopefully the next will be on the CUTTING EDGE> Good Luck
