Key Biscayne - Saltwater Fishing Report

Cutting Edge fishing Reports
Weather Change Needed
The weather in the area has been fantastic, but for to long. With no sudden change in the winds and temperatures, the fishing began to slow down last week. We did have some nice Sailfishing in the beginning of the week, with most of the action to the south off Key Biscayne and some off the Beacon. The kingfish have been good and that’s what we have been concentrating on this week. We have been fishing the Cutting Edge every day and finding nice kings in the 15 to 20 pound class from North off Miami Beach to South off the Beacon. The fish are in the area of 60 to 130 ft., depending on the tide. The outgoing tide has been best when it falls in the early morning hours. The kings are biting large baits better than the smaller size pilchards. We have been using Goggle Eyes and Blue runners to get the bites from the larger fish. The best action this week took place directly in front of Fowey Light. In other action Dolphin have been scarce this week, some fish are on the edge and a few offshore but with no consistency.
We are expecting the winds to come up Wednesday and that could be the change we have been waiting for. I would expect another good sailfish bite and the kings may go crazy. It should also push some Dolphin into the area.
Bait Fishing has been tough; I really don’t have any advise this week, because there has not been much bait anywhere.
Friday starts the last Sailfish Tournament of the Year; The Don Shula Co Co Plum Sailfish Tournament begins with lines in Friday and runs through Sunday. This is a big event and there are lots of Trophies for the winners. For information Call Co Co Plum Marina and talk to Harris Shootman.
Tight Lines and Good Fishing.
