Miami and Key Biscayne – offshore

Capt. Quinton Dieterle
May 30, 2001
Key Biscayne - Saltwater Fishing Report

Big Dolphin

Today the conditions were calm and still. The wind was 0000000. There was a nice weed line that i fished most of the day in 700 to 800 that had a few nice size fish on it. The days total was 7 fish in the 18 to 28 pound class and 30 gaffer size schoolies. The fish were much larger than the schoolies that were out farther on the Birds. The fish were swimming in the grass line and eager to bite a live bait or chunk of bally hoo. The big fish had to have a surprise attack or they would bolt.We were sneaking up on them and casting live goggle eyes. We did see a few sailfish free jumping today but it was the first day in a while we did not catch one. Bait is still tough.

The fishing should remain about the same as today as long as the weather pattern remains the same. The current was mild today.

Good Luck
