Miami and Key Biscayne – offshore

Capt. Quinton Dieterle
August 7, 2002
Key Biscayne - Saltwater Fishing Report

Good Today

Today we had a half day and I was a bit worried because yesterday nobody did much while I took a day off, to go diving. But as I crossed the edge a friend called me over to some diving hawks and from that point on we were in fish for 2 hours. The fish could have been on a floater but I could not see it in the limited light. What ever was holding the fish there were lots of them. We caught our limit and could have had more. The fish were in the 2 to 3 pound range with a few larger ones mixed in. The fish were biting live blue runners best. Over the weekend and monday we did well but the fish are spread out. You might find some in 200 ft and some in 2ooo ft. The floaters are nice pieces of trees and branches but only a few might have fish on them. I think the boats in the keys are getting them first. Anyways the fishing is good and we do have some open days so give us a call.

Bait has been tough.
