Miami and Key Biscayne – offshore

Capt. Quinton Dieterle
October 4, 2002
Key Biscayne - Saltwater Fishing Report

Drop Off in Action

TOday was a little bit wierd, one boat hit his limit of 70 Dolphin and the rest of us only good a few. We were second in the counting with 19. We did have a few in the twentys and one thirty. The fish were so scattered that it is hard to say were is best. But, my guess would be in the 5 to 6 hundred ft. range. We found a lot of floaters but only a few had fish, why I don't know. Lots of grass in the same area but the fish are only on the floaters. No bird action to speak of. On the edge the sailfish bite slowed down to. Only a few today, and yesterday. The current is moving north south off the becon, but no current to the north. If I were going tomorrow, I would look for floaters and patches of grass. Work the area of 5 and 6 hundred ft and be persistant.

Good Luck
