Miami and Key Biscayne – offshore

Capt. Quinton Dieterle
January 28, 2003
Key Biscayne - Saltwater Fishing Report

Another Great week of Fishing

This week started off with Sailfish and at this point has us excited with Kingfish. Monday the Sailfish action was good but nothing like last week. We caught 3 and had a great time but last week we were seeing 5 and 6 or more a day. But Monday we had excitement fighting other fish, like Dolphin and Kingfish. The day started off with the seas a bit choppy, but by 10 it was beautiful. As we cruised down a broken weed line I spotted some dolphin picking in the grass. We caught all 18 of those. Nice start. Then we put up the kite and waited about an hour before all hell broke lose. A triple header sailfish and we were off to another great day. After an hour battle we had all 3 released to fight another day, and everybody was smiles, and I think they were all drunk. But that's ok it’s a day off for them. Then I got a hot tip the kings were snapping off the boil, (Government Cut). So I fired up the Cutting Edge and off we went. The first 10 lines to hit the water had a scream and bend in them. The kings were hot. We caught our limit in 15 minutes. (16). Well the end of a great day, plenty of smiles and happy faces. Today we fished a half day and also got our limit of kings 12. It slowed down a bit but was still red hot. Sailfish were also biting but we did not try that today. Well I can hardly wait till tomorrow. Tight Lines

Well I have been wrongly accused of luring our customers back to Miami, with these fishing reports. Alex Fernandez who fished me yesterday said I Chummed him down from New York and cost him a grand just to get here on short notice to get in on the Sailfish bite. Well though it might be true, he was glad I did.

And I was glad he came, He has been fishing with us for over ten years and is one of my best customers and friends. Thanks and sorry at the same time Alex.
