Miami and Key Biscayne – offshore

Capt. Quinton Dieterle
December 4, 2003
Key Biscayne - Saltwater Fishing Report

Rough But Good Fishing

A nice current to the north, a north breeze and bingo the sailfish arrive. Not in huge numbers yet but enough to make it interesting. We are seeing at least a couple a day and some days up to 5 or 6. The nice blue water and north current have not hurt things. While waiting for the sailfish to bit we have been keeping busy doing battle with the kings(Kingfish). We had some big ones this week with one in excess of 40 pounds. And with a couple of Dolphin coming up on the kite baits to, it make for a exciting day. We are also catching a few small mutton snapper on the bottom rod. The wrecks have also been producing, Tom Cabrerizo caught a nice African Pompano the other day, while fishing on his new boat the Liberty. He also had a few Dolphin. Bait has been good. This weekend should bring some exciting fishing, Kite fishing should be your best bet.
