Key Biscayne - Saltwater Fishing Report

Dolphin Fishing Is Great
Fishing This past weekend has been great. A little rough on Sat and Sunday but the fish are here. We found some Floaters from the hurricane that went through Cuba last week. Huge trees and some big branches are drifting north with fish on them. Yesterday the Fish were mostly in the 5 to 10 pound class. The floater fish are larger than the ones we find on the birds. The fish have been out a bit farther this week. We had to go at least 20 miles out and some 10 to 20 miles south. But it has been worth it. Some small fish are still around but it seems like the fish are getting bigger. Remember the limit size, 20 inches from the nose to the fork of the tail. I have been seeing lots of fisherman talking short fish lately, mostly because of the lack of knowledge of the new law.
We have been using light line for the fish lately, 20 lb Berkley with 50lb leader We use the Dark Blue line so we can see the line from a distance when we are hooked up and tring to figure the tangles out fishing with six rods at a time. We use the Berkley clear for leader. The 50 lb Berkley is Soft and invisable to the fish.
