Key Biscayne - Saltwater Fishing Report
Tournament Time
Tournament Time is over for the Cutting Edge and Liberty Crew, In Miami that is.
After finishing 4th in the Bob Lewis Tournament a couple weeks ago our team was ready to strike back. In second place till the last half hour we were really fired up to better our standings in the Masters two weeks later.
It started off all right on Saturday, stay close was the plan and hope on Sunday to make a run for it. And we did, with 5 fish. Sunday started off flat calm. Jimbo Thomas on the Thomas Flyer hooked a triple 2 hundred yards north of us and the Bill Back with the Famous Capt. Zigger caught a single. We never got a bite out of the group of fish. So we took a vote and a huge chance and left the group of boats and ran north, away from where the fish had been the day before and that morning. Well to say the least it paid off. On the way north we caught a triple of our own off a free jumper. Running more to the North we noticed the Current began to pick up and the wind did to. So we popped up the kites for a short while. Spotting a Free jumper to the outside of us, we pulled the lines in the air and took off, a little bit of a mess. But it paid off with a double. As soon as we released those 2 fish we brought in the kites and ran to another free jumper. Another pay day, and another double. Now we are catching up to the L & H. We decided to abort the mission and return back south. Two singles on the way south put us a fish away from the lead. The leader then caught a couple and we matched them for 11 fish for us. Trying to grab the daily and first slipped so far from us when L & H snagged a Quad (Yes 4) with 5 minutes left to take the lead again and the daily. But to know despair we pulled second place out and had a great time. It was one of the most exciting fishing days of my life. We were using the new Alatecnos 20 's filled with Berkley Blue 20. And used the Flora Carbon leader from Berkley, Keep that a secrete..
