Key Biscayne - Saltwater Fishing Report
Thursday Sailfishing Action 1-26-06
Well the sailfishing remains pretty "DAMN HOT" from Haulover to Fowey. Today i had the pleasure of fishing with a great group of guys, Ralph, Steve, and John. We met at 7am and off to catch bait we went. We hit the cut at 7:20,bait was a little slow but we managed plenty of pilchards and herring to head out. At 8:30 we set up off of Bear Cut in 230ft of water. We had great current and beautiful blue water. I threw out 3 flat lines and as i was letting out the kite we had our first fish on. He made a jump and threw the hook. I quiskly sent another bait back out and continued with the kite. We had 3 flat lines and 3 kite baits out. We caught 1 shark on the first drift, ran out reset and caught our first sal of the day. John got tight on h\er in 180ft of water, and we released her after a great display of jumps and runs. We did a few mopre drifts with no bites. The bow flat lne starts to sing and we miss another sail, we are now 1/3 at this point. The dolphin are thick, they are schoolies but there are tons of them and are great on light tackle. We released a few of them and we get our next sail hooked up for Steve. We finish the day going 2/4 on sails, plenty of dolphin a shark and a couple of mystery fish. This weekend we are fishing the Mayor's Cup, hopefully the bite will stay hot for us. They are still catching some swords out there also. Tuesday night a few of my friends caught some nice fish, i herd of a 300lb and a couple of fish in the 200lb range. I have some night open in Feb. so lets get out there and get tight!
Tightlines,
Capt Joe
