Stronger Winds push fish to the edge

Key Biscayne - Saltwater Fishing Report

With the slightly stronger east wind we had this week, we should and have started seeing more action. The winds push the Dolphin in toward the edge were you can catch them Kite fishing or trolling on the edge or closer to the reef.

We had some good sailfish action along with some nice mutton snapper this week. Lots of small bonito and and really really small dolphin are moving around in around 100 to 180 ft. We have been using live threadfin and pilchards with 50 pound Stren leader. We go with the Stamina coral color leaders this time of yr. The larger Dolphin are less likely to ignore the bait with a softer leader. It allows the bait to move with less resistance.

Tight lines,
Capt. Quinton Dieterle
