Key Largo Fishing Report 11/28/12
Key Largo backcountry fishing has been really good in the past weeks. we had our first real cold front of the year and that has moved lots of reds and snook in to the shallows. The reds are all in the slot

with a few up to 30 " and the snook are from 24" to lunkers over 12 lbs.

Also fishing on the shoreline we are finding jacks, sheepshead, trout and mangrove snapper. Most of the action has been on live bait and gulp lures. Out over the deeper grass there are some good sea trout. This is the first year that we do not have a closed season so trout are open all year for the first time in over a decade. This is a great time to go out and get a "backcountry slam"(redfish, snook and trout). Fish in the backcountry have just changed to there winter pattern and the fishing has been awesome. A quick word on other stuff. Reef fishing is good with all the usual species and more grouper since the cold front. Offshore of key largo there are sails and kings at the reef line and nice Dolphin

a bit farther out in the gulfstream. Dolphin fishing will been best on the warmer days between the cold fronts while the sails like that cooler north wind.
