Key Largo Reef Fishing 12/30/11
This week fishing the shallow reefs off Key Largo has been a very productive trip. For the the most part we had wind from a different direction every day as a mild cold front passed threw. Seas have been 1 or 2 foot and the weather is just beautiful. Plenty of action and a great list of species. Fishing spin tackle with 12,15 and 30 lb test and baiting with shrimp, cut baits and live ballyhoo has been the ticket to keeping the rods bent all day. For table fish

the list includes mangrove, yellowtails and mutton snapper ,hogfish, porgies, black, gag and red groupers plus Spanish and cero macks. For action fish several species of jacks passing threw, Lemmon

and blacktip shark, cuda and even a few permit around in this past week. All trips this week were 3/4 days but even a half day works great

with this inshore trip. From now threw the next few months is peak time to get in on this light tackle action in the Florida Keys.
