Key Largo Wahoo Bite and Football Tunas

Capt. Ryan Van Fleet
March 9, 2018
Key Largo - Saltwater Fishing Report

The bite around the full moon was pretty good. The Islamorada and 409 Hump is easy living fishing for football tuna right now. Amberjack season is open. Gave my clients the option of running to the hump for football tunas or targeting wahoo along the edge, they selected wahoo fishing. Targeted Wahoo on Friday March 2nd and Tuesday March 6th. On Friday we went 3 for 4 on wahoo with blackfins mixed in to keep the action going between wahoo bites. Monday was little slow on the wahoo bite for us, caught one wahoo and a few King Fish with big bonitos mixed in on a 1/2 day.

We did not bottom fish this past week as clients wanted to target wahoo, but the guys that did caught the Vermillion Snappers and Yellow Eye Snappers.
