Key West - Saltwater Fishing Report

Spring has turned into summer down here in the lower Florida Keys. The air is hot & humid and the fish are happy happy happy.

Lots of tarpon swimming around these days. I've been guiding daily an I'm happy to report the fish are cooperating. I head the tarpon have been eating live bait. All of my customers this time of year fly fish, an I can attest the tarpon are eating many different fly patters & colors.

Permit fishing has been decent if you are willing to put in the time. Most guides will suggest you tarpon fish this time of year. The two reason for this would be; less permit around, easier to catch. Tough to argue those things.

Bonefishing has been decent on select flats. We caught a few this week as we have a big mid day low tide. These guys always seem ready and willing to play the game. Using buck tail jigs and or shrimp or crab fly patterns.
