Flats Fishing Early Spring

Capt. Lenny Leonard
March 4, 2017
Key West - Saltwater Fishing Report

February has been a great month for fishing on the flats down here in Key West. The weather has been quite warm and the winter winds have not been too strong. The flats fishermen have been able to target: bonefish, permit, tarpon, barracuda and shark.

If you wanted steady action then go chase barracuda. If you want a challenge, well there have been plenty of those days spent chasing permit. The bonefish have been quite plentiful too, which help to provide some action when stalking the permit. I would say that February has been a great month of fishing on the flats in Key West.
