Key West and Lower Keys

Capt. Dexter Simmons
March 14, 2001
Key West - Saltwater Fishing Report

Permit are Marching!

Permit have returned with a vengeance during the past several days, though they are still a bit unsettled with the winds changing so often. Here is a sketch from a photo of an angler with a nice 21 pound Permit taken on March 13. Permit are usually everywhere in March, and we are expecting the sickle tail Great Pompano to stay on the flats until early April. Here is another Permit taken by angler Peter Barry this month.Grand Slam fishing is here, as Bonefish and Tarpon action will stay good as long as the warm breezes keep up. Before you travel to the Keys for some great Tarpon, Bonefish and Permit action, call Capt. Dexter Simmons for a live report 305-745-3304. Tight Lines and Screaming Reels!
