Tarpon Staging for Migration

April 21, 2007. Tarpon are staging off the Florida Keys ready to migrate through Keys flats in big numbers and it could bust loose as soon as the water temperatures reach 80 degrees again this coming week. In the meantime, there are plenty of resident Tarpon schooling up in channels and basins around the island chain. There are plenty of Bonefish and Permit on the flats to keep anglers busy until the Tarpon start running strong. So if you have Tarpon Fever, take a break from your staked out Tarpon flat and check out the other action available on the backcountry flats.
