North Winds Cool Off Keys.

November 6, 2007. Every November we get some cold fronts that cool the temperatures here in Key West and the Florida Keys. Our water temps on the flats have dropped from the mid 80's to the low 70's during the past two weeks, as the North winds influenced by TS Noel have kicked into gear. When the wind moderates a bit into the 15 kt range, then we are able to find some Tarpon, Bonefish and Permit around on the Atlantic side of the island chain. The high pressure ridge has kept the skies sunny and blue giving us great visibility on the flats. The forecast is for the North winds to continue this week. With that trend lowering our sea surface temps the schools of Pompano, Mackerel, Sea Trout and Jacks are beginning to show in the channels and basins.
