Winds Back to Normal

Capt. Eric Evans
February 8, 2018
Key West - Saltwater Fishing Report

The winds are back to normal and we are seeing 10-15 MPH again! The first part of February was a struggle with another cold front pushing the Gulf Stream out. Luckily, those days we opted to bottom fish for most of the time and saw some nice yellowtail snapper come on board along with a mixed bag of reef fish!

Once the wind switches to the east and south east the offshore bite became good again with blackfin tuna and some nice size mahi-mahi! If Key West fishing stays like this, we will have a great year of catching!!

Species to look forward to from February to April are:

Offshore: sailfish, tuna, wahoo, mahi, kingfish and swordfish
Reef: kingfish, barracuda, snappers, mackerels and sharks
Backcountry and Flats: tarpon, sharks, barracuda and jacks
