Febuary Flats Fishing Report For The Lower Florida Keys

Capt. Scott Yetter
February 7, 2014
Little Torch Key - Saltwater Fishing Report

Weather and the fishing has been exceptional for this time of year! Warm sunny days with light winds. the water temperatures are around 80 degrees, which make the fish and me very happy!

Been finding large tarpon in the early season lay up basins. I have not looked, but I am sure they are rolling in the channels, early mornings on the nicer days. Baby tarpon and permit fishing has been good too. I have even been seeing some small schools of bonefish too...
Of course the fish we target during colder conditions sharks, jacks, redfish, barracudas, etc.. are on the flats and cooperative too..

Lately there have been large schools of bluefish on the gulf side.. Any fly or plug that lands near them get savagely attacked..... It is a riot and a good way to keep the rod bent..

Target Species:

tarpon, permit, bonefish, redfish, barracuda, sharks, bluefish
