Offshore bite hot in Marathon!

Capt. Bob Brown
November 9, 2013
Marathon - Saltwater Fishing Report

The offshore bite off of Marathon has been hot around the west hump as the Blackfin and Skipjack Tuna have been munching fiercely. Trolling squid lures or Billy baits have been productive to catch the smaller and medium sized fish with deep jigging producing some larger specimens. Sharks have been in the area lately, making it difficult to get some larger fish to the boat once hooked up. Plenty of shark battles could be had if you are into that kind of thing. Some large Mahi have been patrolling the edge of the gulfstream lately which has been as close as one mile off the reef edge near Marathon. Look for Sailfish opportunities to increase more and more in the next month along with plenty of Wahoo and Mahi joining the blackfin Tuna in the mix..
