Marathon, Florida Keys

Capt. Bob Brown

Marathon - Saltwater Fishing Report

Offshore Dolphin Bite is On!

Dolphin fishing off of Marathon and the middle Keys has been red hot lately with schoolie sized fish seeming everywhere! Some nice sized slammer Dolphin of 30+ lb. have been coming in on recent SE breezes and a few of up to 50lb. have been reported from Big Pine Key to Islamorada. Bigger fish have been found by spotting Frigate birds and flying fish and working the bird activity. Schoolies have been plentiful in 200-300ft and beyond where the weedlines and debris have been found. Some nice Blackfin Tuna have also been coming in from the Marathon's west hump and from the "Wall" area.

Tarpon action remains very good at a few of the Keys bridges and in the backcountry. Some nice fish up to 150lb. have been found at the Bahia Honda brige and the 7 Mile bridge. Best action has been at dawn and dusk and after dark. Mullet has been the bait of choice and have been holding up everywhere in the Marathon area.
