Marathon, Florida Keys

Marathon - Saltwater Fishing Report

Dolphin Bite Still ON!

Excellent Dolphin fishing has continued in the Marathon and middle Keys area for the past few weeks. Lately, the larger fish have been 15-20 miles offshore mixed with a few schoolies. Nice catches have been reported all up and down the Keys. Marlin sightings have been very few lately, but look for that action to pick up as summer wears on. Recent heavy weather from a forming tropical storm has kept boats off the water the past day or two and anglers can't wait for the weather to clear. The offshore action should heat up once the storm is clear of the area.

Look for the Muttons and Groupers to heat up in the next couple weeks on the oceanside wrecks. Lots of Little Tunny have been out there on the reef edge and Permit and Cobia have been good in the Gulf.

Lobster season is now open in the Keys so take extra caution looking out for divers and snorklers near shore while boating. Lobster hunters have had to take a back seat to the weather also, but many will venture out at the next calming peroid.

Good luck in all of your fishing adventures!

Capt. Bob Brown, Jr.
