Marathon, Florida Keys

Capt. Bob Brown
July 2, 2003
Marathon - Saltwater Fishing Report

Dolphin Scramble

Great Dolphin fishing has been happening in the Keys recently with some larger fish coming in from 10-22miles offshore of Sombrero Light and near the "ups and downs" SW of Sombrero Light the past few days. Some nice Wahoo have also been reported along with some big Blackfin Tuna around the Wall and West Hump. Good Swordfish action has been happening at night about 30 miles offshore or about 6 miles SW of the Marathon Hump.

Lots of Yellowtail Snapper have been biting at night on the reef in 40-80ft. of water along with some good Mangrove Snapper action in 20-40ft depths. A few large Black Grouper have been coming in off of the deep oceanside wrecks and off of the deep reef edge in 80-110ft. of water.

Permit and Cobia have been biting on the gulf wrecks along with some large Mangrove Snapper and some Grouper and Jewfish.

Good luck in all of your fishing adventures!

Capt. Bob Brown, Jr.
