Marco Island - Saltwater Fishing Report

With water temperature finally in the seventies, Fishing has gotten much better. While the snook fishing has still been spotty, Other fish have been off the hook.
The pompano bite has been outstanding. Double digit catches have not been uncommon. Small quarter ounce tube jigs will do the trick. Expect to catch ladyfish, mackerel, jacks, bluefish, and even a few trout in the mix.
As a side note, the trout fishing has been excellent. While I have not been catching snook in off the chart numbers, the fish that we have been catching have been quality for sure.
Tarpon are starting to show up in good numbers. I have even been pitching to permit and tripletale when not busy with tarpon. We even hooked a small cobia this week. The tarpon are in the back country as well. Look to throw flies, soft baits or even live bait to laid up fish. Cut bait always works well in the back country hot spots too.
With the weather warming up every day, it is only going to get better. I'll see you on the water.
